History - Me and slashcode

Once 4 a time, I wrote lot of Stories for Symlink and my karma was rising. I like to know how my karma was compared to other user. So i contacted maol to tell him about my idea. So his was quite positive and i got an account on Symlink. Because I know something about databases an perl the solution was made very quick.

There was a longer period without any new code until I got a Palm Vx. After installation of AvantGo I configured Slashdot and what I saw was not what I want. So I started with my own PDA implementation. Goals were: Proper layout even on Palms, easy navigation, hack value. After a first release I got lot of positive feedback, but there were limitations. The only way to serve the different needs was configuration. So I rewrote the whole thing using a configuration file. To edit the settings I made a new script. But there are more things then stories and comments... polls.. hall of fame! So I made it.

To be correct between the first and the second release I was looking for a WAP implementation. Before I didn't know anything about XML, WML and cards.

Is there another way to communicate ? No ? WRONG! IRC! One year ago I wrote an irc-bot named jabba. So the missing was written very fast. So jabba sends /msg to the authors when a new submission exists. The news will be announced in a channel and the news can be read by the users.
